In all of the retail gaming rooms on the Zone, under the Options menu of the game room you are in you will find a Filter Chat Language. Selecting this option will block out words you don't wish to see or that are inappropriate for children who may also be using your computer.

The chat filter was provided to be an aid to those users who do not wish to see certain language used on the Zone. It's existence does not mean that you can use inappropriate language on the Zone. You are still required to follow the guidelines in the Zone Code of Conduct.

Instructions of adding words to Chat Filter:

1. Open up Windows Notepad.
2. Enter each word you wish to filter from the chat. Each word must be on a separate line.
3. Name the file badwords.txt and save the file to the MSN Gaming Zone directory usually found at C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone. If you have the MSN Gaming Zone directory installed somewhere other than C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone all you have to do is save the file to that same directory.
4. That's it. You can open, change and save this file over and over again to keep your supplementary chat filter up to date.

This tool will only clear the chat from your screen. To use it, simply put your cursor over the chat and right click. Then select Clear from the pop up menu.

This is useful for clearing bad language and such from your screen.

In all game rooms on the Zone it is possible to stumble across another player that is downright offensive or vulgar. In these cases it may be necessary to place that person on ignore. 

Instructions on Ignore User:

1. In the user list of a game or chat room, find the player you want to ignore and right-click their Member ID.
2. Click Ignore User in the drop-down box; the player's Member ID will be crossed out in the user list. You can toggle this preference on or off.
3. This function only last until you leave. Should you return, you will have to add those people you want to ignore back to your list.
4. Note that it is possible to ignore people in your Friends category.

After you leave the chat or game room, you are no longer set to ignore that person; therefore, if you find yourself in the same room with the person again, you'll have to take this step again to ignore them.

In the event that you require the assistance of a Zone Sysops, there are a number of ways that you may contact one.

The quickest way to do this is to add every sysops that you see while you are playing to your Zone friends list. ( Right click on the sysops you want to add and then select Friend). Using this method almost ensures that you will find one when you need one.

Clicking on Quick Join in a retail game room allows you to join the first available game in that room. Host's have the ability to turn off the ability for people to "Quick Join" their game.
